LSD like other Psychedelics used in psychotherapy could reverse the debilitating effects of depression, anxiety, eating disorders and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide) (CAS-50-37-3). Lysergide belongs to a family of indole alkylamines that includes numerous substituted tryptamines such as psilocin (found in magic mushrooms) and N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT). The IUPAC name for LSD is 9,10-didehydro-N,N-diethyl-6-methylergoline-8β-carboxamide. The (R) stereoisomer is more potent than the (S) form.

Effects of LSD Blotters typically include intensified thoughts, emotions, and sensory perception.

At sufficiently high dosages it manifests primarily mental, visual, as well as auditory, hallucinations.

Dilated pupils, increased blood pressure, and increased body temperature are typical. Effects typically begin within half an hour and can last for up to 20 hours (although on average the trip lasts 8-12 hours).

Acid is also capable of causing mystical experiences and ego dissolution. It is used mainly as a recreational drug or for spiritual reasons.

It is both the prototypical psychedelic and one of the “classical” psychedelics, being the psychedelic with the greatest scientific and cultural significance.

LSD is typically either swallowed or held under the tongue. It is most often sold on blotter paper and less commonly as tablets, in a watery solution, or in gelatin squares called panes.

It is considered to be non-addictive with a low potential for abuse. Despite this, the US government made it illegal as part of the ‘War on Drugs’ after experimenting on people with it during MKULTRA.

Adverse psychological reactions are possible, such as anxiety, paranoia, and delusions.

The drug is active in small amounts relative to other psychoactive compounds with doses measured in micrograms.

It is possible for it to induce either intermittent or chronic visual hallucinations, in spite of no further use. Common effects include visual snow and palinopsia.

In cases where this causes distress or impairment, it is diagnosed as hallucinogen persisting perception disorder (HPPD).
